Welcome to the Elliott family history website, which gives a brief account of the lives of my maternal ancestors starting from my grandparents, Arthur James Elliott and Dorothy Caroline Dore of Poplar, East London. Arthur's family going back generations had lived in East London whilst Dorothy's family originated from Kent and migrated to the capital in the mid nineteenth century. Both Arthur and Dorothy were born and raised in London, and endured some really hard times, having lived through the first world war, the great depression of the 1930s and the second world war.
